Lewisburg, PA (July 16, 2015) GIANT Food stores will open its first Union County store at 224 Hardwood Dr., in Lewisburg on Friday, Aug. 7 at 8 a.m. The store features GIANT’s latest prototype and introduces new and convenient features for Lewisburg customers. Approximately 210 full and part time jobs were created to drive local economic growth.

Marvin Mann a 43-year GIANT veteran has been appointed store manager of the new 66,000 square foot GIANT, which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“For more than 90 years, GIANT has been a better place to shop, a better place to work and a better neighbor to the local communities we serve and we are excited to introduce these traditions to Lewisburg,” said Mann. “Our associates are getting ready to deliver quality, selection and savings combined with an overall convenient shopping experience.”

One-stop shopping in an innovative store layout Customers who walk through the doors of the new store can take in the experience that GIANT has to offer:

  • A huge perishables hall that includes GIANT’s signature produce, deli, meat, seafood, and bakery departments all complemented by a vibrant décor package.
  • The Beer Garden and Eatery offers a large selection of domestic and imports with an emphasis on craft and specialty beers. In addition, a wide variety of eat-in and take-out selections including, salads, freshly prepared sushi, subs, Panini sandwiches and wraps.
  • A Starbucks coffee bar will be adjacent to the produce department. Customers can enjoy coffee, handcrafted beverages and merchandise in the store or on the go.

Healthy living features

Health and wellness is a focus throughout the store as customers find a unique assortment of natural and organic products in one of their favorite sections called Nature’s Promise Marketplace, which includes more than 2,500 frozen, dairy, grocery and special diet selections.

Healthy Ideas shelf tags help customers identify healthy options as they shop. Foods labeled with the Healthy Ideas symbol include single ingredient fruits, vegetables and 100% fruit juice, some canned, frozen and dried fruits, certain breads and meats, cereals, low fat dairy products and some snack foods.

The in-store pharmacy has expert pharmacists available seven days a week to fill prescriptions and offer expert advice. As partners in good health, GIANT pharmacists can administer vaccines, suggest the right over-the-counter medications and help manage prescriptions. GIANT’S Pharmacy also accepts most major insurance plans, can fill pet prescriptions, and offers low-cost generic and name brand prescriptions.

Built with environment in mind

The new Lewisburg GIANT has been constructed with innovative building technologies to reduce energy consumption and the environmental impact of operations. LED lighting is used in many interior and exterior areas of the store to significantly reduce energy needs. Warm concrete floors have replaced traditional tile, reducing the amount of cleaning solutions normally utilized. The Lewisburg GIANT is pursuing LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
