GIANT COMPLETES REMODEL AT STATE COLLEGE STORE ON NORTHLAND CENTER
Carlisle, PA – GIANT Food Stores has completed a major remodel and 8,000 square foot addition of its store located at 255 Northland Center in State College. The store underwent a five-month remodel to provide customers with an expanded product selection and features for a more convenient shopping experience. One of those features, a Beer Garden and Eatery, opened in late August. GIANT has added twenty associates to the State College workforce which now numbers 146 full and part time associates.
“We are excited to introduce our new, state-of-the-art store to the State College community,” said Scott Stephens, store manager. “This remodel offers our customers an even bigger selection of products and amenities that brings together all the quality and value they expect from GIANT.”
State College customers will find key departments such as produce, deli, meat, and seafood have been freshened with new décor and fixtures along with an improved variety of product. Other departments such as health and beauty care, dairy, and frozen foods have been expanded.
Emphasizing GIANT’s ongoing commitment to health and wellness, customers will find a broader assortment of natural and organic products in a dedicated section called Nature’s Promise Marketplace, which includes more than 2,500 frozen, dairy, grocery and special diet selections. To assist customers on gluten-free diets due to celiac disease or other health concerns, the gluten-free product area located within Nature’s Promise Marketplace was expanded to sixteen feet.
The aforementioned Beer Garden and Eatery offers an excellent selection of domestic and imports with an emphasis on craft and specialty beers. Customers will find a “mix-a¬six” option where they can create their own six packs with a variety of craft beers. With Wifi capability and seating for thirty-two, customers are offered a wide variety of eat-in and take-out selections.
The award-winning Shopping Solutions kiosks have been added to the store, allowing customers to use the interactive touch-screen to check personalized BonusCard savings offers, print off coupons, locate an item in the store, and place a deli or Great Entertaining party tray order. Customers also have more than 2,500 tasty recipes at their fingertips that can be printed directly from the Shopping Solutions kiosks. With an eye on energy conservation, LED lighting was newly installed in many areas of the store, including overhead track lights, spotlights on specialty areas & displays, exterior store signs and in the frozen food cases. LED lights are longer-lasting and are expected to reduce wattage by half.
The Customer Service area was expanded to meet customer needs and offers many services and conveniences, including Western Union, RedBox DVD rentals, money orders, ATM, lottery tickets and postage stamps. For added speed and convenience, four regular registers were installed as part of the remodel.
