SAFELY DISPOSE OF UNWANTED/EXPIRED MEDICATION AT GIANT & MARTIN’S

“Drug take-back” collection scheduled for September 27 at 35 GIANT/MARTIN’S stores

Carlisle, PA – In partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and local law enforcement agencies, GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’S Food Markets will participate in the national “drug take-back” initiative on Saturday, September 27. Expired and unwanted medications can be brought into one of 35 participating GIANT/MARTIN’S locations between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Personal information (such as names and addresses) should be crossed out or removed from the medication. No sharps or syringes will be accepted.

“Our regular participation in this initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to being a better neighbor in the communities we serve by ensuring that unwanted medications and prescriptions are disposed of properly,” said Leigh Shirley, director of pharmacy operations. “In April, our stores collected 4,300 pounds of unwanted medications during a similar event.”
