GIANT FOOD STORES ANNOUNCES OPENING DATE AND MANAGER FOR NEW EPHRATA STORE

New store to feature convenience of on-site fuel station

Ephrata, PA – GIANT Food Stores today announced that the doors of its newest Lancaster County store, located at 850 E. Main Street in Ephrata will open on Wednesday, November 13 at 8:00 a.m. The store features GIANT’s latest prototype and new décor package inside and the convenience of an on-site fuel station.

Mary Ann Owens has been appointed store manager of the new 66,000 square foot GIANT, which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new store will employ approximately 210 full and part time associates when it opens.

“Our helpful associates are excited to introduce GIANT to the Ephrata community, where customers can expect to find great value, quality, and selection throughout every department,” said Owens. “We can’t wait to show off all of our convenient amenities, including our pharmacy and fuel station.”

Owens is a 17-year veteran with GIANT Food Stores, having most recently served as store manager of the Lancaster GIANT on Fruitville Pike.

One-stop shopping in an innovative store layout When customers walk through the doors of the new store they will take in the vast, perishables hall that includes GIANT’s signature produce, deli, meat, seafood, and bakery departments all complemented by a vibrant décor package.

Ephrata customers will also find a variety of new features and amenities both in-store and out. The store includes an aforementioned on-site fuel station where customers can shop, pump and save with GIANT’s Gas Extra Rewards program. For every $100 spent on groceries at any GIANT using a Bonuscard, customers will receive ten cents off per gallon of gas when they fill up at the GIANT fuel station as part of the Gas Extra Rewards program.

Commitment to Health and Wellness Emphasizing GIANT’s ongoing commitment to health and wellness, customers will find an assortment of natural and organic products in a dedicated section called Nature’s Promise Marketplace, which includes more than 2,500 frozen, dairy, grocery and special diet selections.

Your Neighborhood Drugstore at GIANT includes a full-service pharmacy for filling prescriptions along with providing informational materials about healthy living, drugs, disease and diet.

Energy Saving Features The Ephrata GIANT, which is pursuing LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, has been constructed with innovative building technologies to reduce energy consumption and the environmental impact of operations. LED lighting will be used in many areas of the store, significantly reducing energy needs. Warm concrete floors have replaced the traditional tile, reducing the amount of cleaning solutions normally utilized.

Lancaster County Heritage GIANT Food Stores has deep roots in Pennsylvania, founded 90 years ago in Carlisle.
