In partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and local law enforcement agencies, GIANT/MARTIN’S collected a total of 5,843 pounds of unwanted and expired medications at 43 participating GIANT and MARTIN’S locations. “We want to thank all of our customers and law enforcement partners for this wonderful response. We are thrilled to help our customers properly dispose of expired medications in order to lessen their impact on the environment,” said Leigh Shirley, director of pharmacy operations. “Working in partnership with the DEA and local law enforcement agencies, we doubled the amount of medications collected in our stores over the same event in 2011.”
