GIANT COMPLETES STORE REMODELS IN GREATER PHILADELPHIA COMMUNITIES

Carlisle, PA – On Sunday, July 22 at 8 a.m. GIANT Food Stores will complete its multi-million dollar store conversion in the greater Philadelphia market when it opens the final five stores it acquired from Genuardi’s Family Markets. The stores re-opening on July 22 include:

  • 4275 County Line Road, Chalfont, PA
  • 1844 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA
  • 168 N. Flowers Mill Road, Langhorne, PA
  • 1925 Norristown Road, Maple Glen, PA
  • 550 E. Lancaster Avenue, St. Davids, PA

"On behalf of GIANT, I would like to welcome all of our new associates and to thank our entire team for their tremendous efforts to ensure a smooth transition. I also greatly appreciate the patience of our customers who stood by us throughout the renovation process,” said Rick Herring, president. “In less than one month, we remodeled 15 stores and have introduced a variety of new amenities and offerings to customers throughout greater Philadelphia.”

In each store, key departments such as produce, bakery, deli, meat and seafood have been updated to provide a clean look along with an improved infrastructure to bring added quality, selection and savings to customers. For example, the produce departments feature a dramatic increase in variety along with the finest, fresh-from-the¬field fruits, herbs, and vegetables. GIANT is also committed to buying local and will continue to feature locally grown produce in all of its stores.

Emphasizing GIANT’s ongoing dedication to health and wellness, customers will find an assortment of natural and organic products in a dedicated section which includes more than 2,500 frozen, dairy, grocery, gluten-free, and special diet selections.

Thousands of GIANT’s own brand and national brand perishable and nonperishable products feature GIANT’s exclusive Healthy IdeasTM product labeling system. Blue and green Healthy Ideas shelf tags help customers identify healthy options as they shop the aisles.

GIANT’s full-service pharmacies, available at Chalfont, Flourtown, St. Davids, Langhorne, and Maple Glen locations are staffed with knowledgeable pharmacists available to fill prescriptions along with providing informational materials about healthy living, disease and diet. GIANT pharmacies will offer more than 300 generic prescriptions for under $10 in addition to providing customers with a 14-day supply of over 30 different generic antibiotics for free, with a valid prescription. The Health and Beauty Care department offers the effect of shopping in a drugstore for all of a customer’s health and beauty needs but at prices lower than most chain drugstores.

GIANT has also installed state-of-the-art technology to provide added convenience for shoppers. Self-checkouts, known as EasyScan, have been added to all five locations. EasyWeigh scales enable customers to weigh their produce, bulk food and other items making checkout quick and easy. GIANT’S award-winning Shopping Solutions kiosks, which are conveniently located throughout the store, enable customers to use the interactive touch-screen to check personalized BonusCard savings offers, print off coupons, find meal recipes and locate an item in the store.

Associates will be at the ready to introduce former Genuardi’s customers to the GIANT BonusCard. The BonusCard offers customers automatic access to thousands of savings every time they shop.

Grand Opening Giveaways

In celebration of each of the grand openings, customers can enjoy special grand opening savings and giveaways on July 22, including:

  • The first 200 customers will receive a six-pack of GIANT brand English Muffins and a GIANT reusable shopping bag.
